California is one of the most prolific wine producing regions in the world. While relatively new to the wine arena compared to European countries like France and Italy, California is definitely a wine producing spot that can hold its own. This West Coast state offers wines in many varieties, from reds to blushes to whites – with each type having its own unique style and taste. The renowned white wines of California are especially delightful.

There are many different types of white wines that are bottled in California. Typically, all white wines should be served at a chilled temperature, and they are usually lighter and crisper in taste than red wines. The grapes used to make white wines are usually a lighter color than those used to make red wines, but this is not always the case. Red wines are colored by the maceration of the dark skins of the grapes along with the juice.
