How To Buy MP3 Players
John Farmer

So you want an MP3 player, but don’t know which one to pick up. Well, it really isn’t that difficult to choose an MP3 player. All you have to do is decide what kind a device you want and the rest will fall into place.

Here are a few tips to help you decide which player you want to go for:

1. Usage: If you want too use your MP3 player while jogging, working out, etc., you might want go for a light-weight device such as a flash-memory player. A hard-drive player is not recommended for such usage as they might skip while you are running. On the other hand, if you listen to a lot of music and need big storage space, you should consider buying a hard-drive MP3 player.

2. Try and Buy: Trying out any particular device is critical if you want to buy the right MP3 player for yourself. In order to ascertain how well the functions of a particular device work, you should give all the features a run through. You must ensure that the on-screen display allows you to jump a specific song. You can also carry a pair of headphones with you to check the quality of sound. Another feature to watch for is the user interface. If the player you are looking at has an interface that is confusing to understand and use, keep on looking till you find the right device.

3. Storage Capacity and File Format: When shopping around for an MP3 player, whether it is flash or hard-drive memory, try to buy the model with the largest storage space within your budget. This is because, even though less space may suffice for now, you might need the extra space later on. Another thing you might want to make note of is the music file formats you want to play on your MP3 device. Some players support AAC, WMA or Ogg Vorbis files. You can buy such a player if you prefer such formats.

4. Battery options: Some flash MP3 players run on replaceable batteries, but for most hard drive devices, built-in rechargeable batteries do duty. Although built-in batteries run for a longer time, they are hard to remove and if you do not have a power outlet nearby when they run low on charge, you won’t be able to continue listening to music.

5. FM Tuner: If your player has a built-in FM tuner, it can be a pleasant change from listening to recorded tunes all the time. Most flash players have this function.

6. Carrying Case: When you buy an MP3 player, you will also get a carrying case for it. Although you might want to get a custom-fitted case if your device is fragile. This is necessary especially for hard-drive players which are usually more fragile.

7. Shop for Prices: Of course, once you have decided on which player you want, don’t forget to shop for prices, both online and offline. There are a lot of great deals available on the net. When you shop online, don’t forget to add the shipping charges to the cost of the product. This will help you decide where your savings are greater.

I hope the above mentioned points help you find the right MP3 player that suits your needs and gives you many happy hours of listening to your favorite music.
