Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl
Rob Ellis
If you’re looking for the perfect summer DVD, look no further than Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl. A movie with the perfect balance between action, humor and horror, Pirates feels much shorter than its two-and-half hour running time.
At least half the fun is derived from Johnny Depp’s over-the-top performance as Captain Jack Sparrow, a down on his luck pirate who’s out to get his ship back from the ghostly crew that stole it. Depp’s portrayal of Sparrow (which was supposedly based on the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards) elevates what would otherwise be a fairly standard Jerry Bruckheimer type movie into the summer movie hall of fame.
Arrrr…..
