The mindset of man has constantly been changing since fashion has become a part of his life. He is never consistent with one type of out look. Somebody evolved body art with a whole new out look and today it has become a new phenomenon.

So what is body art? Even though tattooing used to be the most common type of body art, there is now something more interesting and unique known as body piercing.

Body piercing is just like having an earring on the ear and a nose ring on the nose. The difference being other parts of body also gets pierced and decorated with jewelry pieces. Most people consider body piercing rather radical as it may look unsightly to some and of course, some may even pose a danger if pierced in unusual places in the body such as the bridge of the nose, tongue, lower lips, belly, and nipples and yes the private parts as well.

Different types of jewelry are used for different parts of the body. The jewelry used for the nose is called a nostril screw. It may sound harsh but in reality its not. This style of body piercing originates from India and it is very common among Indian women today. However, this form of body piercing has spread to the west and has become a fashion statement. Now nose screws are also known as nose rings (because the jewelry is shaped like a ring) and nose studs (just like ear studs).You can buy then in gold or silver or you can opt for stylish, colorful studs or even a chic diamond stud – if you can afford that is!

Another form of body piercing jewelry that is immensely popular is called captive bead rings. This is known as one of the newer styles or techniques of body piercing jewelry. They are very handy as this piece of jewelry can be used as earrings, eyebrow rings and even as nipple rings. It is not complicated to use as and very easy to clean. You can get this jewelry piece in various colors and sizes and you can have them made from any material you like.

If you like, body piercing but you do not want to make it too obvious that you can opt for retainers. Retainers are also a type of body piercing jewelry but they are made from clear acrylic. Since the material is clear like glass, it will not be so noticeable to others. You have to be careful though because acrylic can cause infection if the pierced area is not fully healed.

Body piercing jewelry is not popular among those who are more into elegant jewelry. It is more popular among teenagers and young adults and very rarely among older men or women. However, it is still an essential part to the world of jewelry and will continue to flourish with more unique designs and styles
